Surface Plate Calibration connects manufacturers and businesses with independent, vetted metrology technicians and calibration service providers ("Calibration Partners") for granite surface plate calibration, resurfacing, and certification services. We coordinate scheduling, facilitate communication, and ensure our Calibration Partners meet our internal standards — but all calibration and metrology work is performed by independent Calibration Partners, not by Surface Plate Calibration directly.
We verify that each Calibration Partner in our network holds current, valid accreditations and certifications before they are accepted. This includes verification of:
We conduct this vetting in good faith and re-verify credentials periodically. However, accreditation status can change, and scopes of accreditation vary by provider.
While we vet our Calibration Partners and verify their credentials, we do not warrant or guarantee:
Any service agreement you enter into is directly between you and the Calibration Partner. Surface Plate Calibration is not a party to such agreements and is not responsible for their performance.
You are responsible for:
If your facility operates in a regulated industry (aerospace, defense, nuclear, FDA-regulated manufacturing, or similar), you are solely responsible for verifying that the Calibration Partner's accreditation and scope satisfy your industry's specific compliance requirements.
Accreditation Scope: ISO/IEC 17025 accreditation is granted for specific measurement capabilities and ranges. A Calibration Partner's accreditation confirms their general competence — it does not automatically mean they are accredited for every plate size, grade, or specification you may require. Verify scope directly with the Calibration Partner.
NIST Traceability: We require our Calibration Partners to maintain NIST-traceable measurement standards. However, metrological traceability is a property of measurement results, not of instruments or certificates. Surface Plate Calibration does not independently verify the traceability chain of any specific calibration performed by a Calibration Partner.
Measurement Uncertainty: All calibration measurements carry inherent uncertainty. Surface Plate Calibration is not responsible for measurement uncertainty, out-of-tolerance conditions discovered during calibration, or any production or quality decisions made based on calibration results provided by a Calibration Partner.
To the fullest extent permitted by law, Surface Plate Calibration shall not be liable for any direct, indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, including but not limited to:
Our total liability for any claim related to our services shall not exceed the amount you paid directly to Surface Plate Calibration, if any, in the twelve (12) months preceding the claim.
You agree to indemnify and hold harmless Surface Plate Calibration, its owners, employees, and affiliates from any claims, damages, losses, or expenses (including reasonable attorneys' fees) arising from your use of our Website, any services performed by Calibration Partners connected through our platform, or any dispute between you and a Calibration Partner.
